Bamboo Show Garden Malvern & Newbury Royal County of Berkshire Show
The Bamboo Show Garden was used at both The Royal County of Berkshire Show at Newbury ( The Newbury Show) as well as The Three Counties Show in Malvern.
A contemporary garden incorporating a graceful, organically curved path which takes you on a journey to the terrace at its heart. The decking path breaks the geometry of the clean modern lines of the square paved terrace inviting you into the space.
Bamboo selected plants that give a tranquil autumnal atmosphere and complement the simple elegance of the hard landscaping.
Trees give the garden vertical interest with their leaves providing texture and autumnal colour. Soft grasses are used to add movement and the French Lavender gives off a heavenly scent.
Materials
The untreated green oak beams used for the curved path are not only durable but are an affordable, environmentally friendly material that looks right in both traditional and contemporary garden settings. Green oak is ideal for the creation of raised beds, retaining walls and other garden structures. Untreated green oak, rapidly weathers to a soft natural grey or, if treated with suitable wood oil, will retain its golden colour.
Ekki boarding is used for the timber decking. This hard and extremely durable dark mahogany-coloured timber was popular in Victorian times as decking on seaside piers. The wood needs no treatment and will last decades longer than treated softwood deck boards. The paved terrace is constructed using natural grey limestone slabs. Natural stone slabs have become increasingly affordable and available over the last few years. Natural stone is durable, weathers well and comes in a wide range of colours and textures to match with most traditional and modern buildings.
